EVENT DESCRIPTION:

Location: Multi purpose Hall (Otse building)

Time: 11:00 -12:00

Duration: 60 Minutes

Hardware Provided: Fully functional desktop machine

Tools: All the required screw drivers will be provided

Maximum Points: 100 %

The competition is designed for students to display skills in PC assembly with great precision and speed. All the computer parts must be replaced back on the computer and to the right positions. Participants will identify the different computer components and arrange them to a working Computer, they will demonstrate their ability to follow instructions to put together a PC using the right components and tools until it has started to successful boot to a Microsoft operating system designated.

NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS NEEDED:

  1. 2 PARTICIPANTS NEEDED:  MALE AND FEMALE
  2. ATLEAST 1 BACKUP PARTICIPANT OF ANY GENDER (Incase another one falls sick before the event, participating institution allowed to use their own discretion if they need a back or not) 

EVALUATION CRITERIA:

Participant/s work will be judged based on the following aspects:

Speed /Time taken 10
Following Requirements 20
Replacing all components 50
Accuracy 20
TOTAL 100

EVENT RULES:

  • Two participants per team allowed.
  • One team per institution only.
  • Participants will have to assemble the computer from the available components.
  • All the teams will start at the same time.
  • Breaking of components strictly prohibited

SAMPLE THEME:

THEME: Assemble a personal computer intended to use Windows 7.

POINTS FOR THE ROLLING TROPHY:

  • The winner will be close to 100% points.
  • The first runner up will be close to the winner’s points.
  • The second runner up will be close to the first runner up points. (NB: All are marked out of 100%)

At the end of the day points from all events will be added up together and the institution which has accumulated maximum points will be awarded a rolling trophy. All the event descriptions are approved by the event management committee. The event management committee has the right to make any changes on the given proposal at any time.
