EVENT DESCRIPTION:

Location: S0-01

Time: 09:00 – 12:00

Hardware Provided: Desktop Machine, Projector

Maximum Points: 50

Participant/s will have to submit a paper on the given following topic and make a presentation on the same. There will also be a query session where they will need to answer any questions related to their paper. 

The topic is

"Death by social media: Does texting on social media platforms worsen our vocabulary and writing abilities?"

EVALUATION CRITERIA:

The judges will evaluate the participant’s proposal based on the science conference standard as given below.

  • 50% of marks based on the documentation which will be evaluated on the following aspects:
    • 5 % of marks based on Structure and Organization
    • 5 % of marks based on Introduction and defining the problem statement and scope
    • 15 % of marks based on the Content of the body
    • 15 % of marks based on the Analysis.
    • 5 % of marks based on the Conclusion.
    • 5 % of marks based on Referencing.
  • 50 % of marks based on presentation which will be evaluated on the following aspects:
    • 5 % of marks based on Structure and Organization.
    • 5 % of marks based on Visual Aids used.
    • 25 % of marks based on presentation skills
    • 15 % of marks based on query handling.

EVENT RULES:

  • This is an individual event.
  • 2 participants per institution only.
  • The author/presenter must demonstrate understanding of the subject area.
  • The participant must submit a hard copy of the paper on the day of the event.
  • Participants will be expected to make a 15 minute presentation on the topic.
  • Participants will be expected to answer questions during a 5 minute query session.
  • The participants must only submit original work. Plagiarized work will be disqualified.
  • A day prior to the event, participants must email softcopies of their papers to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. The papers will be run through TURNITIN for plagiarism checking.

 

Paper Presentation - Descriptor:

  1. The winner will get 50 points.
  2. The first runner up will get 35 points.
  3. The second runner up will get 15 points.

At the end of the day points from all events will be added up together and the institution which has accumulated maximum points will be awarded a rolling trophy. All the event descriptions are approved by the event management committee. The event management committee has the right to make any changes on the given proposal at any time.
