Botho University was institutionally accredited by the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) in July 2006. All programmes are approved by the Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) and the Council on Higher Education (CHE) in Lesotho.
Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA):
Formerly referred to as the Botswana Training Authority (BOTA), BQA was established on the 8th of November 2013 following an Order issued by the Minister of Education and Skills Development. BQA has the mandate not only to coordinate vocational education and training in Botswana, but also to assess, recognise and accredit qualifications up to Certificate level. Botho University is very proud to be amongst the first institutions in Botswana to have been registered and accredited under this body.
Human Resource Development Council (HRDC):
The Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) was borne from the Tertiary Education Council (TEC) which was formed to regulate those institutions offering tertiary education in Botswana. The HRDC is responsible for the promotion and coordination of tertiary education and for the determination and maintenance of standards of teaching, examination and research in tertiary institutions. The HRDC will continue to process accreditation applications for those offering Diploma level programmes and above. Botho University was one of the first tertiary institutions to register and obtain accreditation with the TEC in 2006.
